![]() ![]() After the Clone Wars these ships were retired and put into decommissioned yards. They had more fire power, but less hanger capacity. ![]() They were used as Command and Control battleships for operations involving many Venator-class vessels. Only a few Legacy vessels were commissioned by the Republic. These offer anti-fighter and anti-projectile defense. ![]() Sixty point defense lasers round out the weapons of the Legacy-class. Ten heavy torpedo tubes are placed amidships on the dorsal hull. Two large heavy ion cannon batteries are placed one each on the port and starboard trenches flanking the command structure. Ten medium turbolasers and ten ion cannons are placed spread out on the starboard and port rim of the ship. Two are placed on the aft ventral hull port and starboard of the ion reactor bulge. Twelve quad heavy turbolaser turrets are placed four to the right and four to the left of the spine on the dorsal hull. Being best described as a battleship/command ship, the Legacy Star Destroyer was larger, more heavily armored, and carried superior firepower to anything of its time. The Legacy-class Star Destroyer was the pure battleship of the Republic and not designed to fulfill the role of a carrier, unlike the Venator. ![]()
